Tibialis Anterior: Origin, Insertion, Action & Nerve Supply

Tibialis Anterior: The tibialis anterior muscle is a long, narrow muscle in the anterior compartment of the lower leg. It is responsible for dorsiflexing and inverting the foot.

Origin: Originates in the upper two-thirds of the lateral(outside) surface of the tibia.

Insertion: Medial and plantar surfaces of 1st cuneiform and on the base of the first metatarsal

Function: Dorsiflexor of ankle joint and invertor of the foot

Nerve Supply: Deep peroneal nerve (L4, L5, S1)
