Rhomboid Minor Muscle: Origin, Insertion, Nerve Supply & Action

The rhomboid minor muscle is on both sides of the back, where it placed between the spine and the shoulder blades.

Origin: Spinous processes of C7-T1 vertebrae
Insertion: Medial border of the scapula, at the level of the spine of scapula
Innervation: Dorsal scapular nerve.

Rhomboid Minor Muscle: Origin, Insertion, Nerve Supply & Action

The rhomboid major muscle is on both sides of the back, within the spine and the shoulder blades.

Origin: Rhomboid Major originate from spinous processes of T2 – T5 vertebrae.
Insertion: It inserts into the medial border of the scapula from the level of the spine to the inferior angle.
Function: Rhomboid Major retract scapula and rotate it to depress glenoid cavity; fix scapula to thoracic wall.
Nerve Supply: Dorsal scapular nerve ( C4 and C5).
Blood Supply: Dorsal scapular artery.
