Rectus Capitis Posterior Minor: Rectus capitis posterior minor is a member of the suboccipital group of muscles along with rectus capitis posterior major, obliquus capitis superior, and obliquus capitis inferior.The rectus capitis posterior minor is the most medial of the suboccipital muscles. There is a connective tissue bridge between this muscle and the dura mater, which may play a role in cervicogenic headaches.Rectus Capitis Posterior Minor

 

Origin: Tubercle on the posterior arch of the atlas (C1)
Insertion: It inserts into the medial part of the inferior nuchal line of the occipital bone.
Function: Extension of the head.
Nerve Supply: Suboccipital nerve (posterior ramus of C1).
Blood Supply: Rectus Capitis Posterior muscle receives blood supply from the vertebral artery and the deep descending branch of the occipital artery.
