Extensor Hallucis Longus: Origin, Insertion, Action & Nerve Supply

Extensor Hallucis Longus: The Extensor hallucis longus muscle is thin, located within the Tibialis anterior and the Extensor digitorum longus muscles.

Extensor Hallucis Longus

Origin: Middle two-quarters of the anterior surface of fibula and the adjacent interosseous membrane.
Insertion:
Distal phalanx of the big toe.

Function: Extends great toe and dorsiflexes the ankle joint.

Nerve Supply: Deep peroneal nerve (L4, L5, S1)

Clinical Significance: Extensor Tendonitis
