Dental Implants – Types, Advantages, Risks, Cost & Trusted Brand

Dental Implant: A dental implant is a surgical element that interfaces between the bone of the jaw or skull to sustain a dental prosthesis such as a crown, denture, bridge,  facial prosthesis or to act as an orthodontic anchor. The modern dental implants is a biologic means called osseointegration, in which materials such as titanium form an intimate bond to bone. The implant fixture is first set so that it is likely to osseointegrate, later a dental prosthetic is added.

A dental implant is a surgical element that interfaces between the bone of the jaw or skull to sustain a dental prosthesis such as a crown, denture, bridge,  facial prosthesis or to act as an orthodontic anchor. The modern dental implants is a biologic means called osseointegration, in which materials such as titanium form an intimate bond to bone. The implant fixture is first set so that it is likely to osseointegrate, later a dental prosthetic is added. A variable number of healing time is required for osseointegration before either the dental prosthetic (tooth, bridge or denture) is added to the implant or an abutment is placed which will hold a dental prosthetic.

Types of Dental Implants

There are two different types of dental implants: (1) endosteal and (2) subperiosteal.

Endosteal assigns to an implant that is “on the bone,” and subperiosteal assigns to an implant that rests on top of the jawbone under the gum tissue. Subperiosteal implants are no lasting in use now because of their poor long-term results in comparison to endosteal dental implants.

In addition, for orthodontic methods, dental mini-implants can work as temporary anchorage devices (TADs) to help move teeth to the desired position. These mini-implants are small and temporarily fixed to the bone while assisting in Anchorage for teeth movement. They are subsequently discarded after their function has been served.

Advantages of Dental Implants

Improved appearance-Dental implants seem and feel like your own teeth. Because they are intended to fuse with bone, they become permanent.

Improved speech– Dental implants enable you to speak without the worry that teeth might slip.

Easier eating– Gliding dentures can make biting difficult. Dental implants function similar to your own teeth, allowing you to eat your favourite foods with confidence and without pain.

Improved comfort-Implants eliminate the discomfort of removable dentures.

Improved self-esteem– Dental implants can deliver you back your smile and help yourself feel better about yourself.

Durability– Implants are very long-lasting and will last many years. With a good application, many implants last a lifetime.

Freedom– Removable dentures are just that; loose. Dental implants erase the embarrassing inconvenience of removing dentures, as well as the necessary for messy adhesives to hold them in place.

Improved oral health– Dental implants don’t need reducing other teeth, as a tooth-supported bridge does. Individual implants also allow easier access between teeth, improving oral hygiene.

Risks of Dental Implants

  • Germs at the implant site.
  • Injury to surrounding structures, such as other teeth or blood vessels.
  • Sinus problems, while dental implants located in the upper jaw protrude into one of your sinus cavities.
  • Nerve damage, that can cause pain, numbness or be tingling in your natural teeth, gums.

How Much Does a Dental Implants Cost?

A single-tooth dental implant cost in the U.S takes $1,000-3,000.  The cost of the abutment and crown adds $500-3,000. So, the price of a full dental implant is $1,500-6,000 in total.
