Common Sports Injuries & Prevention

Nearly two million individuals every year suffer from sports-related injuries and taking treatment in emergency departments. Fatigue is a large leading factor that results in several sports injuries. Sometimes an athlete may take part in low energy leading to the downturn in technique or form, appearing in slower reaction time, loss in strength of muscle joints, and favoring an injury to occur.

For both sexes, the most common injury is the knee and ankle, with sprains/strains. Injuries involving patellofemoral articulation are more frequent among females. The sport with the largest injury rate is football, with higher than 12 times the number of injuries seen in the other most common sport.
