Cervical Spine: The cervical spine is the superior portion of the spinal column, that is lying between cranium to thoracic vertebrae.
The cervical vertebrae are the smallest vertebrae in the vertebral column.
There are seven vertebral (C1-C7 vertebrae) bones.
The first, second and seventh are uniquely shaped, and third, to the sixth vertebra are similarly shaped.
- The first cervical spine (C1) is known as the atlas.
- The second cervical spine (C2) is known as the axis.
